Vera Bell Rogers

Services for Vera Bell Rogers, 93, Tyler, were held 10 a.m. Friday, July 11, at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Perry officiating.

Burial was in Cathedral in the Pines cemetery.

Mrs. Rogers died July 7, 2008.

She was born April 29, 1915 in Tyler to Joel Amos and Ouida Clayton Bell. She was a longtime resident of Tyler, previously living in Washington D.C. for 10 years, where she worked for the Pentagon, writing the Daily Briefing for President Truman. She also worked at Camp Fannin and the OSS, now known as the CIA. She was the pianist for East Tyler Baptist Church and was a member of W.M.U. and a member of Friendly Baptist church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Rogers.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Bill E. and Janet Rogers, Tyler, and Richard L. and Ann Rogers, Ben Wheeler; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Charles Bryant, Desoto; stepson, James B. Rogers, and wife Laura, California; and grandchildren, Jeffrey Bryant, and wife Krystal, Christopher Rogers, Brandon Rogers, Courtney Rogers, Jared Bryant, Rachel Rogers, Jacob Rogers, Sandra Washington, Tammy Meyer and Deborah Bonelli.

Pallbearers included Charles Bryant, Jeffrey Bryant, Christopher Rogers, Brandon Rogers, Jared Bryant and Jacob Bryant.

Honorary pallbearers were J.W. Clayton, Billy Frank Clayton, Hubert Meadows, Elwood Baxter and Dee Burgess
