James ‘Buck’ Wright

Services for James B. "Buck" Wright, 81, Van, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 14, at Hilliard Funeral Home Chapel, Van, with Rev. Mike Calhoun officiating and Rev. James Day assisting.

Burial was in Fairway Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Mr. Wright died July 11, 2008, in Tyler.

He was born December 17, 1926 in Ben Wheeler to Fred Lee and Eunice Matilda Jones Wright. He was a lifelong resident of Van and worked for Pure Transportation. He served on the Van City Council, Van Volunteer Fire Department and was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jean Wright, Van; son and daughter-in-law Keith and Marilyn Wright, Edom; brother and sister-in-law, Harold "Looter" and Dorothy Wright, Van; grandchildren, Brian Keith Wright, and wife Jennifer, James Clayton Wright, and wife Bree, Monica Lynn Struck, and husband Philip, and Nolan Busker; and great-grandchildren, Cooper, Bella and Elena.

Pallbearers included James Clayton Wright, Neil Fowler, Floyd Rowan, Craig Dailey, Bill Hobbs and Doyle Moseley.

Honorary pallbearers were Harlan Adrian, Ted Haines, James Turner and Randall Preston.
