Services for Phyllis Ray Maddox, 70, Van, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Van First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Calhoun officiating.
Burial was in Fairway Garden of Memories Cemetery, Van, under direction of Hilliard Funeral Home, Van.
Mrs. Maddox died July 10, 2008, at her residence.
She was born March 20, 1938 in Van. She graduated from the University of Houston in 1964 with a teaching degree. She taught for more than 30 years and was named Teacher of the Year numerous times. She was a member of Van First Baptist Church, where she taught. She volunteered at the Van schools and was a member of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her father, Louis Suber; and mother and stepfather, Mary and Pete Ellis.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, G.W. "George" Maddox; children, Lesli DuBois, and Darrell Maddox, and wife Susan; grandchildren, Shaun, Steven and Christian DuBois, and Austin and Carson Maddox; and sisters, Anne Langford and Kay Cotton.
