Memorial services for Sammy N. Austin, 66, Mineola, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 14, in Fruitvale, with Bro. Bill Lane officiating, under direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.
Mr. Austin died July 12, 2008, in Grand Saline.
He was born December 20, 1941 in Malta, Ill. He was a retired police officer. He served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mabel Austin.
Survivors include his wife, Bea G. Austin, Ben Wheeler; father, Samuel Austin, Illinois; son, David Austin, Emory; stepson, Lee Jackson, Arizona; daughter, Cynthia Hyatt, Quitman; stepdaughter, Wendi Jackson, Texas; sisters, Kay Hudson, Winder, Ga., and Phillis Richardson, Snellville, Ga.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
