Memorial services for Ollis Wayne Johnson, 79, Murchison, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
Mr. Johnson died July 8, 2008, at his residence.
He was born October 9, 1928 in Emory to Clacy Burnice and Willie Mae Osborne Johnson. He was a resident of Murchison for 20 years, previously of Mesquite, where he lived for 38 years. He graduated from Corsicana High School in 1946. He worked as a used car dealer, Gates Rubber, Chief Auto Parts and Wal-Mart Tire and Lube Express. He also owned and operated Johnson’s Junction in Canton for many years. He was a member of First Christian Church in Mesquite and Pleasant Oaks Baptist Church in Dallas. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1956 as part of the U.S. Naval Air Corps, where he specialized in aerial photography.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 55 years, LaJuan Johnson, in 2006.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Carol Lynn and Richard Nunn, Callender Lake; and son and daughter-in-law, Geary and Dyan Johnson, Callender Lake.
