Services for L.J. "Buddy" Rich, 73, Mt. Vernon, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 2, at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home Chapel, Mt. Vernon, with Rev. Richard Rutledge officiating.
Burial, conducted by members of the Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge #691, was in Rockhill Cemetery.
Mr. Rich died September 28, 2008, in Longview.
He was born January 13, 1935 in Abilene to Lloyd James and Ruth Benningfield Rich. He was a welder with Brown & Root, later Fluor Daniels Construction, for many years. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jerry Rich.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Jane Mayfield Rich; daughters, Mindy Bell, formerly of Van, and her husband Andrew, Kilgore, and Tracy Garrett, Mt. Vernon; son, William Rich, Killeen; grandsons, Trevor and Jake Goode, and Kaden Garrett; sisters, Maxine Stevens, Hawley, and Sue Ross, Cape Coral, Fla.; and several nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers included Keith Garrett, Eddie McCarley, Johnny Knox, Jason Barnett, Kelly Bohlken and Chris Buck.
