David White, Sr.

Services for David White, Sr., 75, Edgewood, were held at 2 p.m., October 26, at Round Flat Pentecostal Church in Fruitvale with Bro. Homer Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at Small Cemetery north of Edgewood under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.

Mr. White passed away Friday afternoon, October 23, 2009, in Terrell.

He was born June 7, 1934, in Blue Ridge, Texas, the son of Jack White and Lura Smith White. He was raised in Blue Ridge. David graduated from Blue Ridge High School in 1954 and later attended Frank Phillips Junior College in Borger. While in college, the Chicago White Sox’s were looking to draft him to play baseball but the United States Army decided they needed him to serve his country. On September 28, 1963, he married Barbara McCord in Dallas. David had been employed by Luby’s Cafeteria and Wyatt’s Cafeteria, both in Dallas. He later worked at Ranchero in Mineola, where he retired. David lived in Dallas prior to moving to Edgewood in 1981. He was of the Baptist faith.

Preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Lura White; sister, Billie Jo Elder; brother, Paul R. White and a brother-in-law, Lonnie Norvell.

Survivors include his son, David Alton White, Jr., Grand Saline; daughter: Tanya Smith and husband, Phillip, Edgewood; brothers, Charles White and wife, Mae, Kemp, Bo Elder and wife, René, Blue Ridge; sisters, Zona Norvell, Blue Ridge, Loretta Brewer and husband, Rex, of Hot Springs, Arkansas; grandsons, Aaron Smith, Ty Smith.

Pallbearers were Ty Smith, Aaron Smith, Montie Norvell, Eddie Smith, Corey Smith, Timmy Smith, Davy Foster and Ruston Lewellen.
