Services for Richard L. Hill, 72, Grand Saline, were held at 10 a.m., October 28, at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Dan Gilliam officiating.
Interment followed in Haven of Memories, Canton, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.
Mr. Hill passed away October 25, 2009 in Grand Saline.
He was born February 28, 1937 in Grand Saline to John Howard and Oma Uldene Jones Hill. He spent most all of his life in Grand Saline where he was a member of First United Methodist Church; Pairs & Spares Sunday School Class; Canton Lions Club; and a Past President of Van Zandt County Country Club. He retired as owner of Van Zandt County Abstract Co. He had also been Administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency, Research Director for Olin Kraft Paper Co. and Technical Director for Georgia Kraft Paper Co.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Hill, Grand Saline; mother, Uldene Hill, Grand Saline; sons and daughter-in-law, John Hill of Shanghai, China, and Stephen and Jennifer Hill, Allen; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Skip Heizer, Lake Forrest, Ill. and Karen and Austin Beckham, Ennis; and grandchildren, Justin, Thomas and Stanton Beckham, Emma and Corbon Heizer, and Cavett and Kendrick Hill.
Honorary pallbearers will be Pairs & Spares Sunday School Class.
