Services for Raymond "Chock" Chitty, 77, Athens were held at 2 p.m., October 25 at Eubank Funeral Home Chapel, Canton with Bro. Jim Chitty officiating.
Burial was in High Cemetery, Canton.
Mr. Chitty passed away October 22, 2009 in Athens.
He was born December 17, 1931 in Myrtle Springs to James Martin and Iva Myrtle Stanbery Chitty. He was Baptist by faith. He was 50 plus year member of Road Sprinkler Fitters UA Local Union #669. He played piano and sang with several bands. His last band was ‘The Ranch Hand Band.’ he enjoyed writing songs and playing and performing for Senior Citizens functions all over East Texas. He wrote a country music column for the Malakoff newspaper for a year.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Edith Page and Hazel Hollingsworth; brothers, Otho Chitty, Luther Chitty and James Chitty.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Chitty, Athens; daughters and son-in-law, Anita Davis, Lubbock, Melony and Lance Wallace, Wylie; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Janice Monk, Irving, Jerry and Connie Monk, Wylie; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nell Rose Maxwell, Euless and Doris Parnell of Athens.
Pallbearers were ‘The Ranch Hand Band’ members.
