Services for Opal Marie Huff, 80, Canton, were held at 10 a.m., November 4, at Brookside Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Truett officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.
Burial was in Haven of Memories, Canton.
Mrs. Huff passed away on October 31, 2009 in Canton.
She was born on May 17, 1929 in rural Oklahoma to Eva May and Marvin Mills. Her family moved to Altus, Oklahoma when she was twelve and she graduated from Altus High School in 1947. She married John Huff on May 31, 1947. John’s 36 year career with Phillips Petroleum took them to a number of residences in the Texas panhandle where they lovingly raised their family. In 1988, John and Opal retired and moved to Canton, where Opal was actively involved in, The Rebekah Lodge, her church, and the Red Hat Society. She currently holds the title of Queen Mom in the Dolly Mommas Canton chapter. Opal was a talented and treasured pianist. During her life she played hundreds of church services in many churches. Most recently she played Sunday morning services at both the Brookside Baptist Church and the Wallace Methodist Church. In addition, she was a regular pianist for several weekly Gospel sings in the Canton area.
She is predeceased by her oldest and youngest sons; Steve (1977), and Richard (1990).
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, John; son Wes Huff and his wife Tammy, Plano, and their children Sam and Amy, Richard’s wife Jane Huff, Plano, grandson Galen Huff and his daughter Emma.
