Memorial service for John F. Haggerty, 90, Wills Point were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 14, at Elwood Baptist Church north of Wills Point with Bro. Billy Smith officiating. Services are under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.
Mr. Haggerty passed away early Tuesday morning, November 3, 2009, in Bonham.
He was born November 9, 1918, in Sandusky, Ohio, the son of Michael John Haggerty and Elnora Goodwin Haggerty. He was raised in an orphanage in Sandusky because his mother passed away when he was a young boy. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. On August 10, 1963, he married Edna May Duarte in Glendale, California. In 1980, John and Edna moved from California to Wills Point. He was employed in the plumbing supply business and in 1979, he and Edna owned and operated their own trucking company, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Elwood Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and a sister.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Haggerty, Wills Point; two sons; three daughters; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
