Constables Arrest Man Twice In Three Days

Terry Britt, Staff Writer

An 18-year-old man faces felony retaliation charges after an investigation of the alleged sale of prescription drugs from his home.

Robert Leroy Young who was taken into custody Saturday was being held in the Van Zandt County Jail on a $100,000 bond as of Monday.

He is charged with having made online and telephone threats against "persons he deemed responsible for his arrest and for the drug search warrant at his residence on (Oct.) 1," according to the Precinct 4 Constable Pat Jordan.

Jordan stated that Young is also accused of making a threat against Precinct 1 Constable Mickey Henson as well as other law enforcement officers. Young had been arrested just two days earlier by the Precinct 1 Constable’s Office on a felony aggravated assault warrant.

Jordan and Precinct 3 Constable Robert Tisdale assisted Henson in making that arrest. Young is accused of severely beating a Grand Saline man who was intoxicated and unconscious.

Young was booked into the Van Zandt County Jail on that charge and subsequently made bail.

Jordan said after Young’s arrest, information was obtained about the sale of prescription drugs from his residence on Private Road 5182 just outside of Grand Saline. A narcotics search warrant was obtained for the residence.

A narcotics investigation was already ongoing on the location, Jordan added.

"During surveillance of the location, two suspects arrived and were subsequently detained and the warrant served. A baggie containing seventy five (75) hydrocodone pills were pulled from the pocket of Lanon William Montgomery, an 18-year-old male, also of Grand Saline," Jordan stated.

Officials arrested Montgomery for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance over 28 grams and under 200 grams. The other suspect, an 18-year-old male, was released pending further investigation.

During the execution of the search warrant, marijuana and large quantities of drug paraphernalia were discovered, Jordan added, and as a result of the investigation, a total of 90 hydrocodone pills were seized by law enforcement.

"The sale of prescription medication has become a big problem here in Van Zandt County, especially among our young. I would strongly urge parents to keep up with their medication and with their children’s medication," Jordan said.

"Parents are our first line and biggest help with the direction of our children’s lives. The preservation of our young is the only hope for our future," he added.

Jordan gave credit to the Grand Saline Police Department, Henson and Tisdale for their work on the case and the resulting arrests.

"These guys are doing a fine job and I look forward to further cooperative investigations with their offices," said Jordan.
