Ninth Annual Autumn Stroll To Feature Some New Events

Staff Writer

The event that Canton Main Street board members have been planning for all year has finally arrived – the 9

th Annual Autumn Stroll Glitz & Gala dinner, auction, and entertainment.

This year’s event will be extra special, not only because of the added entertainment by dinner music entertainers Sound Advice, but also because the event is to be held at Canton’s own Civic Center on the First Monday grounds.

The event begins at 8 a.m. with their first premier off-road 5K run/walk. Registration for this event is set for 7 a.m. at The Arbors. Pre-registration can be done by contacting Mercy Rushing or Lynn Kitchens at (903) 567-1851.

The Autumn Stroll Festival & Gala Dinner will begin at 6 p.m., with dinner catered by Eddie Dean Catering & Company.

The menu includes Colonial stuffed chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans with almond slivers, and dinner rolls.

The salad bar will be provided by the Canton Women’s League, and the dessert table will be provided by the Wednesday Study Group and members of the Canton Main Street Board.

Also, the silent/live auctions with entertainment will be going on at 6 p.m.

There will be a drawing this year for a Sony Bravia 52 inch HD LCD television.

Tickets to the dinner and gala event are $30 each if purchased prior to the event or $35 at the door.

This year there will be the first annual crowning of Mr. or Miss Main Street. The recipient of this award will receive a $500 college scholarship and will preside over all the city of Canton civic events until Autumn Stroll 2010.

The Master of Ceremonies this year will be Chet Clayton, vice president of First State Bank of Ben Wheeler.

Through funds raised at this year’s Autumn Stroll, the Main Street Board plans to help with expenses to further beautify and maintain the downtown area and help with the building of new sidewalks on the remaining sections of the downtown square.
