Man Arrested For Online Solicitation

EDGEWOOD—Police arrested a 23-year-old man on a charge of online solicitation of a minor Wednesday.

The Van Zandt County Jail Book-In Department confirmed Kyle Bryant, Grand Saline, was transported by Edgewood Police Wednesday evening and was released on bond Thursday.

Edgewood Police Chief Henry Askew said Bryant allegedly solicited two 16-year-old females and one 12-year-old female through their MySpace accounts.

"One of the girls’ parents had filed a complaint," Askew said. "She and her daughter agreed to abandon the MySpace account and provided us with the login and password information.

"We then began to have conversations with the suspect starting on Sept. 24. During those conversations, he brought up the idea of having sex with him and requested nude photographs," Askew said.

With a female who agreed to act as a decoy, Edgewood Police arranged a meeting with the suspect at the Edgewood Exxon on Wednesday, where he was subsequently arrested.

Askew said the charge is a second degree felony.
