Brownsboro Man Arrested After Fleeing From Constable
A Brownsboro man was arrested last week after he fled from Van Zandt County Precinct Four Constable Pat Jordan and deputy constable David Smith.
Michael Doyle Gray, Jr., 21, was traveling on a motorcycle on VZCR 2339 (Callender Lake Road) last Wednesday when Jordan and Smith observed him driving faster than the posted speed limit.
"He was going 72 in a 60 mile per hour zone. When we turned the lights on, he just kept going," said Jordan.
Jordan said the suspect then turned into Hickory Hills. After traveling a short distance he then jumped off of the motorcycle and started running.
"He ran a little ways then jumped in the lake and started swimming," said Jordan.
He said Gray swam about 30 yards then turned around and came back to shore.
"He told us he ran because he didn’t have a motorcycle license, when in fact, it was invalid," said Jordan.
Jordan said the man had three outstanding warrants all of which were traffic citations.
"Now he is facing felony evading arrest charges," said Jordan.
Jordan said that law states that if you flee from an officer, even for a short distance, you will be charged with a felony offense.
"People need to understand that you can’t flee from officers. You may have a spotless record, and then all of a sudden you run, your record now has felony charges on it," said Jordan.
He also said that any vehicle that is involved in a felony may be impounded.
