Dupree Captured By Marshals In Dallas

A Van Zandt County man wanted for questioning regarding the murder of Paul Edward Marshall, 72, Wills Point, was apprehended by the US Marshal’s Office last Friday.

Michael Maurice Dupree, 57, was captured in Dallas.

"We had narrowed down an area that we believed Dupree to be in and the marshals were able to pick him up," said Van Zandt County Investigator Patrick Reedy.

He said that no other information regarding the apprehension was available at this time.

Reedy said that Marshall was found dead in his home on VZCR 2142 on September 10 and that Dupree had fled the scene in Marshall’s van.

"We received a 9-1-1 call on September 10 from Mr. Marshall’s preacher. He had gone over to check on him because no one had seen or heard from him since the night of September 8," said Reedy.

Reedy said that Marshall was found lying face down in his living room floor.

The van was located last week in a subdivision close to White Rock Lake.

As of press time, Dupree was being held in the Dallas County Jail awaiting transport back to Van Zandt County. He is currently being held on outstanding warrants out of Van Zandt County.

"Dupree has not been charged with anything regarding Marshall’s murder but he will be questioned as our investigation continues," said Reedy.
