On Friday afternoon, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Wills Point police were dispatched to assist in a high-speed pursuit involving a motorcycle.

The suspect took evasive maneuvers from Department of Public Safety Trooper Brady Lunceford on Interstate 20 at about 1:10 p.m. The suspect, who had been traveling westbound, crossed over the median and drove into oncoming traffic.

Lunceford disregarded the chase due to safety concerns, however, 911 calls to Van Zandt County dispatchers reported the suspect making his way onto Highway 47 north, toward Wills Point.

Police Chief Scott Johnson met the suspect as the motorcycle traveled north on Pecan. Johnson and officer Nicole Griffin intercepted the suspect at the railroad crossing at E.N. Commerce and E. S. Commerce. The suspect layed the bike over at that crossing, but regained control and traveled east on the railroad tracks.

The suspect, identified as Trent Clark, of Jefferson, was apprehended when he crashed a second time near the intersections of VZCR 3516 and VZCR 3501.

Clark was in possession of hypodermic needles and materials used in the manufacture of methamphetamines. He was arrested and released into the custody of the Department of Public Safety.
