City To Learn About Main Street Program
The State Coordinator for the Texas Main Street Program, Debra Farst, will be in Wills Point to provide an introduction to the program.
The Wills Point City Council recently approved making application to the state for the Main Street designation.
The purpose of the program is to renew the downtown areas of small towns. The program’s approach to revitalization comes through economic development, promotions, building renovation and preserving historic aspects of the city’s downtown.
Farst worked as association coordinator for the Texas Downtown Association for seven years before joining the Texas Main Street program. She is a former chamber of commerce manager, as well as working for an economic development council. She holds a Masters of Public Administration form Texas State University.
The presentation will be on Monday, June 22 at 6 p.m. at the chamber of commerce building. Anyone interested in the Main Street program is invited to attend.
