High Speed Pursuit Ends In Arrest

Randal Brewer, Sports Editor

Wills Point police officer Nicole Griffin arrested a male suspect after a high-speed chase reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour on Wednesday morning.

Griffin was traveling west on US Highway 80 when Jose Manuel Salazar, 33, Terrell, ran the stop sign at FM 2965.

Griffin said Salazar nearly hit her squad car, and continued to accelerate, traveling west on US 80.

The pursuit ended in Kaufman County when Salazar turned off US 80 onto Allen Lane. Salazar left the road on Amy Lane and got stuck in the mud.

Griffin made the arrest before other law enforcement arrived. Drug paraphernalia was found in the vehicle.

Salazar was taken into custody on the felony charge of evading arrest and detainment.
