Three Held For Burglary

Randal Brewer, Sports Editor

Responding to an agency-assist call, Wills Point police instigated a stop that led to the arrest of three individuals charged with burglary.

On Friday, January 22, shortly after 6 p.m., the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office received a suspicious persons call from a residence on VZCR 3804. With no sheriff’s deputies in the near vicinity, Wills Point police responded to the call.

A description of three white males in a white SUV was given.

At the corner of North 4th and FM 751, officer J.D. Morris spotted three white males in a white Hyundai that matched the initial description turning south on 4th St. (FM 47) off of FM 751.

Morris followed the vehicle south on FM 47 until receiving confirmation on the description from officer Rob Powell, who was at the residence.

Morris initiated the stop, and sheriff’s deputies arrived to take the suspects into custody.

Jacob Dewayne Smith, 23, of Midlothian, Matthew Parlington, 22, Red Oak, and James Kirbie, 29, of Hubbard, were taken into custody. Five firearms reported missing from the residence were recovered from the vehicle, as well as pills and scales.
