Africa to America is located in Turner’s East Gate and it offers a variety of handmade sandals, wooden carvings, paintings and drums.

Eric and Erica Rumbo of Terrell, Texas own the shop as well as two other shops that sell many different flags, accessories and utility trailers.

"All of our sandals are handmade leather. They are beaded and we have assorted colors," said Erica Rumbo.

Rumbo said that the wooden carvings include masks, animals and people.

"We purchase all of our items through a missionary group. A close friend makes all of our items for us. The money we spend on our products help feed and cloth orphans, widows and the needy.

"All of our items are one of a kind and very interesting," said Rumbo.

Rumbo said she came to First Monday with her mom when she was younger.

"Now what is interesting is that the place we loved coming to turned out to be Turner’s East Gate, now my husband and I have three shops there," said Rumbo.

"Eric’s dad is a missionary and he brought us some things back from Kenya that were wonderful. I always get asked about my sandals when I am out and about," said Rumbo.

Rumbo said that they have a lot of repeat customers that have been buying from them since they set up at First Monday in September 2001.

"We have great people around us and Eric and I thnk it’s a great experience for our kids to help out with our business," said Rumbo.

Rumbo said that the shops are open on Thursdays as well as Fridays through Sundays. See their ads below.
