Karen Willingham knew after getting her first Mini Rat Terrier puppy and not being able to find clothes for it that other people with small dogs had the same problem. She then started DoggieDo Rags located in Mill Creek Marketplace.

"I worked for Wal-Mart for ten years until I hurt my back. I have always loved to sew but hate sewing people clothes," said Willingham.

Willingham said that while on sick leave she got her Mini Rat Terrier puppy and when she couldn’t find clothes for it she knew she could sew them.

"It just grew from there. Now if it is for a dog, I can make it," said Willingham.

Willingham has also made clothes for goats, cats, potbelly pigs, even a monkey and ferret.

"The only thing I wouldn’t make was for a hairless rat because I didn’t want to touch it," said Willingham.

Willingham and her husband, Rickey and their daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Kelly Keown all help with the business.

"Most of the merchandise is hand made by myself and my daughter. We make standard sizes of dresses, fleece cots, tee-shirts, shorts, wraps, and various other items," said Willingham.

Willingham said they also sew custom items per customers’ pets’ measurements.

Willingham also stocks doggie hair bow, feed bowls, puppy pads, doggie panties and dog beds.

Willingham started coming to First Monday about ten years ago when she made and sold vests, denim vests and blanket coats. She started DoggieDo Rags about three years ago.

"I sew all the time. My husband enjoys collecting old military guns and he occasionally has a gun or ammunition that he sells at the booth," said Willingham.

"I love what I do. I can set my own hours during the month. I do spend lots of hours in my sewing room. I guess you could say sewing is my job and hobby," said Willlingham.
