Lady Eagles Eyeing Third Playoff Spot

The Lady Eagles went into Mineola on Tuesday with a chance to get a firm hold on the third and final playoff spot in District 14-3A. Canton (5-3) trails Van (8-0) and Wills Point (6-2). The team has a one-game lead over Mineola.

The Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Jackets in the first meeting between the two teams. A win by Mineola would create a tie for the third spot. A win by Canton would create a two-game lead with one to go. Game results were not available at game time.

The Lady Eagles rolled over the Eustace Lady Bulldogs on Friday for the second time this year, winning 14-0. Canton has defeated Eustace by a combined score of 29-0 in two games.

In Friday’s game in Canton, Lauren Fedor pitched a one-hitter, while the Lady Eagles pounded out 10 hits. Brittany Arnold and Bri Chamberlain were both 2-for-3 at the plate, and Maegan Spears added a triple.

Canton opened a 3-0 lead in the first inning, and then added 11 more runs in the third and fourth innings.

The Lady Eagles will wrap up the regular season in Van next Tuesday, April 21.
