Lady Bulldogs Move To 11-0
The Edgewood Lady Bulldogs extended their perfect district mark to 11-0 with wins over Scurry-Rosser and Kerens. The Lady ’Dogs were scheduled to face Sunnyvale on Friday, and will celebrate Senior Night against Mildred on Tuesday. The final regular season will be at Blooming Grove on April 24.
Playing in Scurry, the Lady Bulldogs found themselves in a pitcher’s duel, which is fine when Cassidi Henderson is on the mound. The Edgewood pitcher held the Lady Wildcats to one hit and struck out 13 in a 4-1 win.
Edgewood took a 1-0 lead in the first at back, and the score remained that way until the sixth inning when the Lady ’Dogs scored again for a 2-0 lead. Scurry cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the inning, but Edgewood scored twice in the seventh.
Jazmine Dunn had a two-hit night, getting two singles. The senior also had an RBI and a stolen base. Brittney Eason singled and stole a base, and Susan Agesen single with an RBI.
Hosting Kerens, the Edgewood offense exploded for 19 runs on only four hits. Kerens pitching gave up numerous walks as the Lady Bulldogs scored four in the first, eight in the second and seven in the third.
Henderson bettered her previous outing by tossing a no-hitter and striking out 10 in four innings. A hit batsman was all that spoiled a perfect game.
