Lady Cats Defeats Hawkins

The Fruitvale Lady Cat softball team stayed on track to make the playoffs by defeating Hawkins, 6-1, on Tuesday.

Senior pitcher Whitney Whitaker struck out nine in getting her 11th win of the season.

The Lady Cats broke open a scoreless game with two runs in the third inning. Hawkins scored its’ lone run in the sixth.

Laura Hagood hit two triples, while Kasey Campbell had a double and a triple. Whitaker and Christin Johnson both had two singles, while Haley Taylor and Courtney Spybuck each added singles.

The team will travel to Union Hill on Tuesday, and celebrate Senior Night in the final home game on April 23.
