Lady Indians Comeback Wins Bi-District Crown
The Grand Lady Indians claimed a bi-district title with a 6-4, come from behind win over Sunnyvale. Senior Brooke Davis got the game-winning RBIs in the seventh inning, advancing the Lady Indians to the area round.
Playing in Athens on Tuesday, Grand Saline trailed 4-2 going into the sixth inning. Davis led the inning off with a double, and then moved to third on a Cassie Chitty single. Lindsey Stanley sacrificed Davis home, cutting the lead to one.
In the bottom of the inning, Stanley worked out of a bases loaded jam by striking out three in a row, keeping the Lady Indians within striking distance.
Heather Burnett started the seventh inning rally with a single, and Sarah Gipson tied the score with an RBI double. A Brittany Pope single set the table for Davis, who responded by driving in both runners.
The Lady Indians traveled to Corsicana on Thursday to take on Bruceville-Eddy. Game results were not available at press time.
