Bulldogs Suffer Rare District Loss

Randal Brewer, Sports Editor

The Edgewood Bulldogs suffered their first district loss in recent history when the team played at Kerens on January 15.

The Wildcats led 13-8 at the end of the first quarter, and with the exception of a 15-14 Bulldog edge in the third, outscored Edgewood in each quarter on the way to a 59-47 win.

Dillon Parmer kept the Bulldogs in the game early, scoring 12 of his 16 points in the first half. Darrius Rogers sparked the Bulldogs’ third quarter with nine of his team-high 17.

Calvin scored all six of his points in the fourth quarter while Trey Brown finished with four. Colten Hinton and Josh Sharff each scored two.

The Bulldogs bounced back from that loss to defeat Mildred 73-54. Rogers again did most of his damage in the third quarter, scoring nine of his 17 points. Parmer scored 11 and King nine. Wyatt McBride, Sharff, Brown and Trey Jameson al scored seven points, followed by Austin Fleming with six and Gabe Milton with two.

The Bulldogs hosted Malakoff on Friday, and will begin the second half of the district schedule in Blooming Grove on Tuesday.
