Vandals Capture 14-3A Team Track Title
The Vandals’ track team won the second District Championship in a row, taking the 14-3A title with a team total of 168.5 points. Second-place Eustace came in with 145.5. Canton was third (110), Wills Point fourth (104), Mineola fifth (51, and Kemp sixth (39).
Van received a points boost from first-place finishes in two relays. The 100-Meter Relay team of Seth Potter, Treston Parsons, Chase Rabe and Michael Terry won that event in a time of 43.42. Potter, Treston Parsons, Terry and Tory Parsons made up the 4X200-Meter Relay team that won in a time of 1:31.35.
Other district titles were won by Treston Parson, who won the 200-Meter Dash in a time of 22.68, and Tory Parsons won the 300-Meter Hurdles in 41.04.
The 4x400-Meter Relay team of Tory Parsons, Joey McMinn, Neal Addison and Jean Ambler placed second.
Other regional qualifiers for Van are Jacoby Alexander (Shot Put, 110-Meter Hurdles); Jace Huddle (Shot Put); Cody Goodin (High Jump); Brad Bogue (Pole Vault); Potter (100-Meter Dash); Terry (100-Meter Dash); Ambler (400-Meter Run); and Addison (300-Meter Hurdles).
The Lady Vandals will send four athletes to the regional track meet. Qualifiers are Caitlin Galloway (2nd Triple Jump), Britney Tunnell (2nd 800-Meters) Katie Rhodes (3rd High Jump) and Shawntelle Shiflet (3rd Pole Vault).
