Big Game For Lady Tigers On Friday

The Lady Tigers have had the misfortune of meeting the top two teams to open district play, and the fight for the third playoff spot will start on Friday.

The Wills Point girls fell to Canton in the district opener, 61-37, on Friday night. The team then traveled to Kemp on Tuesday and lost 64-48.

Against Kemp, the Lady Tigers took an early lead, 17-15, after the first, but Kemp scored a 20-8 advantage in the second to lead 35-25 lead at the half.

The Lady Tigers fought back in the third, cutting the lead to 44-42, but Lady Jackets pulled away again in the fourth. Wills Point trailed by two points with four minutes to play, but a rash of late turnovers sealed the game.

Heather Harbaugh scored 19 points to lead Wills Point, followed by Precious Spencer with nine, Emily Levy with eight, Jimmysha Spencer five, Alicia Robinson four, Destini Spencer three and Brooke Smith two.

The Lady Tigers will meet another 0-2 team, the Van Lady Vandals in Wills Point on Friday. Van lost its’ district opener to Kemp59-44, and fell to Mineola 48-40.
