Two Win Puts Lady Tigers In Playoff Hunt

The Lady Tigers have improved their position in the playoff race with consecutive wins over Van and Eustace. The Wills Point girls are tied with Mineola for the third spot in the district race at 2-2, and travel to take on the Lady Jackets tonight (Friday).

Against Van, Heather Harbaugh scored 24 points to lead the Lady Tigers to a 57-42 win. Precious Spencer scored 12 points; Alicia Robinson had nine, Brooke Smith six, Destini Spencer four and Jimmysha Spencer two.

After Van took a 9-7 lead in the first quarter, Wills Point scored a 13-9 advantage in the second for a 20-18 lead at the half. The Lady Tigers took control of the game in the third, outscoring the Lady Vandals 20-11.

Against Eustace, Wills Point hit four 3-point shots in the second quarter to turn a 7-4 lead at the end of the first into a 23-15 lead at the half. Brooke Smith hit two 3’s, and Jimmysha Spencer and Emily Levy each hit one. Robinson scored four of her game-high 10 points in the second as well.

Eustace closed to within 28-26 at the end of the third before Precious Spencer scored all four of her points in the fourth quarter to help the Lady Tigers hold on for a 36-34 win.

Harbaugh scored all six of her points from the free throw line, Smith totaled six, Jimmysha Spencer five, Levi three and Destini Spencer two.
