Truck Smashes Into Building

Emergency responders worked a major accident on State Highway 34, just south of W. H. Ford High School, on Tuesday afternoon.

What awaited the first responders was the sight of a pickup truck in a building. The accident occurred at 2:16 p.m.

Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Jason Walton said, "A blue Dodge Ram 1500 pickup driven by Angela Teel, age 30, of Forney was southbound on State Highway 34.

"The driver fell asleep and left the roadway to the right, struck a highway sign and attempted to regain the roadway, overcompensated and crossed the roadway to the left and struck and entered a building," Walton said.

The driver was taken to Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville by American Medical Response paramedics.

Firefighters of the Quinlan Volunteer Fire Department temporarily shut down the highway as two wreckers from Lone Oak Wrecker removed the truck from the building. The highway was reopened as the emergency unit left the scene at 3:18 p.m.
