Johnson Leaving Principal Position

Larry Briscoe, Editor

Casey Johnson confirmed Tuesday that he will leave his principal position with Quinlan Independent School District at the end of the current school year.

Johnson is principal at Joe Martin Early Childhood Center where he is serving his third year. He has accepted a position at Center Point, located near San Antonio. Johnson said his new position would be principal of a pre-kindergarten through fifth-grade school.

The school district is where former Quinlan Asst. Supt. Cody Newcomb located earlier this year. Newcomb accepted the position of superintendent at Center Point.

Johnson is in his sixth year with Quinlan ISD and served as assistant principal at A.E. Butler Intermediate School before taking the reins as principal. His father, Larry Johnson, was a longtime superintendent at Quinlan before resigning last year.

Casey Johnson’s wife, Kristina, is a fifth-grade teacher at A.E. Butler Intermediate School. They are the parents of a daughter, Eiko Lynn, who will enter third grade next year.

Johnson said Quinlan had been good to him but he was looking forward to his new position and said it was a big step in his career.

Supt. Micheal French said Johnson had "done a real good job for us and we wish him well wherever he goes."

He said he was already interviewing candidates from within the district for a replacement before interviewing outside-the-district applicants.
