Chase Ends With Wreck And Arrests

Larry Briscoe, Editor

Two men were arrested Sunday night after a car and foot chase by Quinlan police and Hunt County Sheriff’s deputies.

Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks told The News that the incident began at McDonald’s in Quinlan. He said when officers arrived on a call for possible intoxication, "they took off, evading arrest."

"They ran through a locked gate at the school and jumped a curb," Meeks said. The gate is located on the school road used by buses between A.E. Butler Intermediate School and D.C. Cannon Elementary School, west of McDonald’s and State Highway 34.

The sheriff said the suspects’ car was damaged too badly to continue when it hit the curb and deployed the airbags. Meeks said the passenger took off on foot and was apprehended a short distance later by a deputy.

Meeks identified the passenger as Colten Dale Pryor, 18, of Quinlan. He was charged with evading arrest or detention and resisting arrest.

The sheriff said the driver was Robert Scott Crank-Harris, 21, of Athens. He was charged with evading arrest and driving while intoxicated.

Both remained in the Hunt County Detention Center on Monday in lieu of bail.
