Chase Ends Near Boles

Larry Brisco, Editor

A chase by law enforcement officials in pursuit of a motorcycle across two counties ended Monday night about 9:40 p.m. on FM 2101 near Boles Independent School District.

Hunt County Sheriff’s Deputy William Dykes said Quinlan Police Department aided in the pursuit as well as Rockwall County and Hunt County Sheriff’s Offices.

Dykes said the chase ended when the driver finally stopped on his own. Early reports indicated that the chase ended with a wreck, however officials said it was discovered the driver stopped and laid down on the road.

Rockwall County Sheriff’s Deputy Trey Oakley said the chase began when the driver did not stop on charges of speeding and no tag light.

Rockwall County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Young said the chase began on Interstate 30 at the intersection of FM 549 and continued down 549 to State Highway 276, through Quinlan to State Highway 34 and north to FM 2101. The incident ended about a half mile east of SH 34.

Young said speeds reached about 70 miles per hour. He declined to identify the suspect until after arraignment.

Oakley said the driver indicated he was scared as the reason he did not stop.
