Seventh Grade Buffaloes Finish Second In Tourney

The Lone Oak Middle School seventh grade team finished second in the District 13-AA tournament held last weekend in Lone Oak.

The Buffaloes fell to Cooper in the championship game, 38-30. Sawyer Zachary had 24 points for Lone Oak and Ethan Fite added the other six.

In the first round, the team turned back Grand Saline, 40-19. Zachary had 20 in that game, Clint Mahand, Tim Brannon and Fite added six each and Londo Snale put in two points.

In the semifinals, the Buffaloes beat Caddo Mills, 40-24. Zachary had 25 points, followed by Mahand with six, Fite with five, and Trent Sikes and Brannon with two each.

The seventh grade "A" squad finished the season with a record of 9-3.

In the eighth grade tournament, Lone Oak suffered an opening round loss to Grand Saline, 34-22.

Cody Blanton had 10 points to lead the Buffaloes, Harrison Holt added eight, and Ty Tolleson and Austyn Hooten scored two apiece.

Lone Oak lost to Alba-Golden in the second round, 47-29. Tolleson led Lone Oak with 16 points, Blanton finished with eight, Holt had three and Jace Hart put in two.

Holt’s 20 points helped Lone Oak to the seventh place game victory over Cooper, 34-29. Blanton added eight points and Tolleson finished with six.

The eighth grade Buffaloes ended the year at 4-8.
