Boles Captures Win Over Liberty JV Team

Terry Britt, Staff Writer

Boles returns to action tonight (Friday) at Union Hill at 7:30 p.m., just more than a week after winning a contest against the Frisco Liberty junior varsity.

Scheduled as a replacement game for one called off because of thunderstorms the previous Friday night, the contest last Thursday night saw Lane Sutton of Boles score three rushing touchdowns in a 35-21 victory for the Hornets.

Sutton’s first two TDs, both in the first quarter, helped Boles grab an early lead, but the Hornets were not able to pull away completely.

Andy Allen tacked on extra-point kicks after Sutton scored from 16 and 14 yards, respectively. The Liberty JV team answered with its first touchdown on an 18-yard pass completion and a PAT to make it 14-7 in the second quarter.

Boles extended its lead to 21-7 when Kailob Wallace scored on a 12-yard run and Allen once again kicked the extra point.

The Hornets took that lead into halftime, but saw the Liberty JV pull back to within seven with a scoring drive to open the third quarter.

Wallace capped the Hornets’ next scoring drive with a 1-yard run into the end zone and Allen was true to form again in making it 28-14 at that point.

Liberty would not go away easily, though, tightening the score once again on a big 52-yard touchdown run.

However, with time winding down, Boles iced it with Sutton’s third touchdown run, a 5-yarder in the fourth quarter.

Sutton finished with 210 yards on 25 carries, while Wallace added another 109 yards on 12 rushes.

Wallace passed just six times in the game, completing three and suffering one interception. Austin Cantrell caught passes of 33- and 18-yards.

Wallace led the Hornets in tackles with nine. Tony Allen and Tracy Brockway finished with seven apiece, while Michael Jordan and Justin McLain chipped in with six apiece. Allen also recorded a quarterback sack.
